Bread and more at Zak the Baker In Miami

Some of the best Kosher bread and pastries we have ever had have been in an unexpected location – Miami. Surprised? Well Zak the Baker in Wynwood (We visited 405 NW 26th St Miami, FL 33127 – Zak the Baker has since moved) has made a name in Miami for having some amazing breads and pastries, and some of the best avocado toast anywhere. Though we get our fill of Cuban and South American food in Miami, we have also made Zak the Baker part of our Miami food routine. And we aren’t the only ones, since Zak the Baker seems to be constantly bustling! AvocadoToastZak the Baker is a labor for love for Zak Stern, who studied baking and cheese-making in Sweden, France, Italy and Israel and raised funds for the bakery through Kickstarter. What makes Zak the Baker really special are the breads, including the olive oil and za’atar, Jewish Rye and Baguette. You an order bead with either sweet or savory toppings and our pick is the the divine avocado toast with goat cheese and cilantro (Stern picked up his recipe for homemade goat cheese in Israel). The restaurant is welcoming, light and airy, and is a great place for breakfast or lunch. Plus, it is a great place to bring vegetarians or vegans.ZTBBakeryAs for pastries they have our favorite – babka – along with danishes, croissants, Kouignamann, croissants and rugelach. There are other more substantial dishes on offer like quiches, salads, and the Israeli Sabich (with tahini and egg mango chutney). There is even talk of the Wynwood location becoming a deli – we’ll certainly be looking out for it! But be sure to get your fill of bread and baked goods while you can – perfect accompaniment to a cafecito.ZTBInterior.jpg
